I’m Robin McGregor, and I’m running for the Oakland Community College Board of Trustees because I believe in the power of education to change lives. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of fields, including 35 years at Consumers Energy, where I started in Meter Reading and worked my way up through roles such as a lineman, cathodic specialist, welding inspector, and more. This hands-on experience has shaped my understanding of hard work, dedication, and the importance of providing opportunities for people to build fulfilling careers.
In addition to my career at Consumers Energy, I currently work for Oakland County Parks and Recreation, where I continue my commitment to community development and engagement. I’ve always been passionate about giving back to the community, and over the years, I’ve volunteered with various local organizations and causes, advocating for the needs and rights of our residents.
My Focus as a Trustee:
I’m running for Oakland Community College Trustee because I am committed to making higher education accessible, strengthening our community connections, and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed—whether they’re pursuing a degree or preparing for a career in the trades. Together, we can make OCC a place where every student’s potential is realized and every community member is valued.
