Robin McGregor is a lifelong community advocate, experienced school board leader, and proud trades professional who believes education should create opportunity for everyone—from students just starting out to adults returning to school to train for a new career.
Robin brings decades of real-world experience to public service. She spent 35 years at Consumers Energy, working in the skilled trades as a lineman, pipefitter, cathodic specialist, and welding inspector. During her career, Robin also served as president of her local union, representing her fellow employees and developing valuable experience in leadership, problem-solving, workplace issues, and advocacy.
Her career taught her firsthand the importance of technical education, workplace safety, accountability, and preparing people with the skills employers need. It also taught her the importance of listening to people, standing up for their interests, and speaking up when something isn’t right.
Robin also served on the Waterford Board of Education, where she helped guide district leadership, supported early childhood education and Head Start programs, and advocated for transparency and responsible decision-making. She understands how boards work—and knows that effective board members must listen, ask tough questions, speak up when necessary, and always keep the needs of students and the community at the center of their decisions.
Robin is running for the Oakland Community College Board of Trustees to help ensure OCC continues to serve the changing needs of Oakland County and the people who call it home.
Her priorities include:
Known for her integrity and willingness to stand up for what she believes is right, Robin wants OCC to remain a place where opportunity is real and students can gain the education and skills they need to build a better future.
Education. Workforce. Community. That’s the future Robin McGregor is working to build at Oakland Community College.
